The Aerosmith band did not fare well between 1980 and 1984, releasing a single album, Rock in a Hard Place.
Aerosmith released 1987's Permanent Vacation that they regained the level of popularity they had experienced in the 1970s.
Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, the band scored several hits and won many awards for music from the multi-platinum albums. Their comeback has been described as one of the most remarkable and stunning in rock 'n' roll history. After 38 years of performing, the band continues to tour and record music to this day.

* Note:The only info about the authors of the songs I've got is the inlay saying 'All songs written and published by Aerosmith', but I figured that they can't have written them all together, so probably Tyler & Perry wrote tracks 2-8, Perry track 1 and Tyler track 9. Track 1 also published on The Joe Perry Project's debute album 'Let The Music Do The Talking', released 1982. Darkness sounds just like any other Tyler song, that's why I figured he wrote it.

Aerosmith was one of the most admired hard rock bands of the '70s, setting the style and sound of hard rock and heavy metal. The Boston-based Aerosmith found the middle ground between the Rolling Stones and the the New York Dolls.

They developed a prototype for power ballads with "Dream On," a piano ballad that was orchestrated with strings and imprecise guitars. Aerosmith's ability to pull off both ballads and rock & roll made them tremendously well-liked during the mid-'70s.
